Moving to Switzerland

Moving to Switzerland can be an exciting challenge, but it requires careful planning, especially as the country is not part of the EU. This means there are special requirements for residence and work permits that need to be taken into account. At TMF Mobility, we have the experience to navigate the Swiss regulations so you can have a smooth and efficient move.

Moving to Switzerland?

We have the experience of moving to Switzerland

If you're considering moving to Switzerland, you should be aware that there are some challenges that can complicate the process. This is because Switzerland is not an official EU member state and therefore has quotas on how many foreigners can move to the country. Specifically, this means that you can stay in Switzerland for up to three months, after which you will be required to obtain a residence and work permit.

If you want to be prepared for the things you haven't necessarily thought of yourself, it's a good idea to ally yourself with an experienced supplier who can help make the move go smoothly. That way, you can feel safe and focus on all the fun parts of moving instead.

And we at TMF Mobility have the experience in international relocation.

Advice if you want to move to Switzerland

If it's a longer stay (more than 3 months), you must remember to register your departure in the Danish National Register.

A permanent residential address is required to apply for a residence and work permit in Switzerland and you must apply for a work and residence permit if you will be staying for more than three months.

When you move to Switzerland, you are no longer covered by Danish social security and it is necessary that you take out health insurance so you can be treated for any illness.

Social insurances, such as unemployment insurance, are paid through your salary, with both you and your employer paying a percentage each.

Each region can set its own tax rules, so you may find that tax conditions vary in different parts of the country.

How much does it cost to move to Switzerland?

If you're looking to move to Switzerland, several factors will affect the price. For example, the price will depend on where in Switzerland you are moving to. In addition, the price will also vary depending on the scope of your move and your requirements. Therefore, it's important that you provide the supplier with as much information as possible about the job. For example, it's relevant to know where to pick up the inventory, how much there is, whether there are any special needs, such as heavy inventory, and whether it's a house, an apartment, an office - and on which floor?

It's also a great advantage to be ahead of time, as an international move requires thorough planning and suppliers are better able to give a good price if they have plenty of time to plan. Furthermore, all transportation options will also be cheaper when booked well in advance.

If you have any questions about your move, we'll be happy to discuss the situation with you so you can get an overview of the challenges you need to be aware of.
